You may or may not need a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for a mobile medical unit if its total weight is under 26,000 pounds. Check your state requirements.

Most states require a CDL Class A license for any single vehicle that exceeds 26,001 pounds.

Class A: Any combination of vehicles/trailers with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. This would include large, over-the-road commercial haulers.

Class B: Any single vehicle with GVWR of 26,001 pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds.

This depends upon the service you will be providing and the volume of patients to be seen daily.
